Not sure what your getting at, doing that is not new, and part of heating. Heat the cage, and add a hot spot. Is a very normal approach, particularly in larger cages. folks have used all manner of different heaters for this, heat emitters, which is totally dislike, a radiator type heater, as recommended for Josh if needed. etc.

The approach of only a heat lamp for a basking spot is for cages that are smaller, and do not require additional heat.

It needs to be understand, maybe use a graphic, if fact that would help a lot. How heat needs to be utilized.
