For Sherie on feeding

I hope Sherie is reading the forum as well as the FB page and Iím so excited to have you with us!

You mentioned food items for your sav. FR has promoted whole prey to all of us here for all monitors. The canned dog/cat food that a lot of people feed to savs, along with meat without bones, etc. do not appear to have much value.

Most of us here feed insects (my savs like crickets and Canadian night crawlers, I havenít gotten into roaches due to the ďickĒ factor, haha!). I also feed them snails from the Asian market and the occasional shrimp (tho FR says I should send those to him!) My savs primarily eat whole mice, chicks, and quail. I give the occasional quail egg because it is fun to watch them eat those.

If your temps are right, you should be able to keep your sav fit and not overfat on insects and whole prey. Most of us supplement with calcium/vitamin D powder.

Did I do okay, Frank, et al? What did I forget?

I will warn you, that you are likely to end up with more than one monitor if you hang our here...
