In my case, the way I use them, we want the heat, but not the intensity. when the bulb is close, It heats the surface too hot, so back it off and the surface temps are less, but the air temps are the same.

Dimmers only reduce the amount of total heat the bulb produces, and has little to do with basking temps.


So back to my set up, I want the heat Troughs with deep substrate only have so much air space, so making stacks with choices, requires the lite to move up, not dim down.
